Web5 de out. de 2010 · I find that the reamed hole is smaller (i.e. the dowel pin has less wiggle) if I leave less material for the reamer to remove. For holes ½” diameter or less, using a letter or number drill which is closest to the reamer diameter, but smaller, works well. I ream at an RPM which is slower than the RPM for drilling, but with a faster feed rate. Web23 de jun. de 2009 · Depth of cut range is pretty narrow. A good sharp reamer can take a pretty fine chip but they do not take out a lot on each pass. You probably need to experiment to determine what works best. Make small adjustments and several cuts if you have a lot to remove. Never turn the reamer backwards as that will rapidly dull the blades.
